IJAW YOUTH BERATES AMINU SULEIMAN OVER COMMENTS ON FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC EKOWE, BAYELSA STATE: ALERTS ANTIGRAFT AGENCIES.

The people of Bayelsa state and the Ijaw Nation received with shock the publication credited to the member representing Kano (Fagge Federal Constituency) in the House of Representatives and Chairman House Committee on Tertiary Education Hon. Aminu Suleiman, over the Vanguard Newspaper of 30th November,2017. In that publication, Aminu Suleiman claims to have visited the Federal Polytechnic Ekowe in Bayelsa state and was met only by rats and lizards, casting aspersion on the true existence of the institution.

The Chief Law Officer of the largest homogenous ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta(Ijaw Youth Council (IYC),Worldwide(Barr.Igbeta Ayebakuro) in a statement issued in Abuja & made available to newsmen expressed his disappointment on the issue by stating that Aminu Suleiman surely did not visit the institution and that his claims are founded in total falsehood aimed at the unwarranted closing down of the polytechnic and bring untold hardship to both students and staff of the institution.

The whole Nation is aware of the number of pseudo institutions doting the landscape of the north, he added and called on Aminu to refocus his energy  to sponsoring meaningful Bills in the house that will attract development to his educationally disadvantaged people whom he represent. The new rebranded IYC under the able leadership of President Oweilaemi Pereotubo frown at a situation where a person uses his office to either score cheap political points or  blackmail Public servants and swindle resources from them, as it alerts the EFCC, ICPC & other anti-graft agencies to immidiately swing into the trail of Hon. Aminu Suleiman as this might be his antics to solicit unmerited financial gratification from the Rector & management of the polytechnic (and possibly from the heads of so many other public institutions of learning in the Country, hence he has turned his controversial position as Chairman House Committee on Tertiary Education into his coco-farm).

The IYC Legal Adviser stated that the Federal Polytechnic Ekowe is bubbling with activities in spite of its rural/remote citing and lack of access aside marine transportation, the Institution has being  admitting students since establishment and has continued to receive such acknowledgement even from highly rated bodies like JAMB and has being participating in the activities of Unions like the ASUP, which are in themselves clear pointer to the existence of the Institution contrary to Aminu's claims, Barr. Igbeta added sternly.

He noted also that Aminu's publication is a calculated attempt to truncate the polytechnic of funds and bring it to a premature and artificial death, to the displeasure of the Ijaw nation, as the institution is prided as one of the best in the Country, & as just one of the few Federal presence in Bayelsa state, which has being producing graduates with the requisite skill to man critical aspects of the state, Niger Delta and national life.

The IYC went on to advise the chairman to steer clear of Ijaw & Niger Delta issues but rather use his office to see how he can attract a road access to the Institution so as to ease the plight of staff and students who has to spend fortunes weekly to achieve the mandates and goals.
